The Department of Civil Engineering of GIFT, Bhubaneswar, has been in existence since 2012. The departmental activities embrace Planning, Design, Construction and Management. One of the primary engineering departments of the Gandhi Institute For Technology (GIFT) Bhubaneswar, the Department of Civil Engineering offers Diploma, B.Tech. and M.Tech. degree programs. The Department registers Diploma, B.Tech. and M.Tech candidates including those under the Quality Improvement Programs (QIP) under its Continuing Education Program (CEP). It organizes from time to time, advanced special courses as well as short time refresher courses with participation both from academic and serving senior level officers in Central and State Government and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
The Department actively promotes curriculum development activity by updating existing courses, developing new courses and preparing resource material for teaching. It undertakes industrial consultancy works as a part of its interaction with industry and also organizes seminars/symposia for professional interaction. The Department contributes to the interdisciplinary academic and research activity of the Institute.

Activities Beyond the Curriculum
To ensure students remain updated with the evolving landscape of the construction, design, and quality control industries and are fully prepared for industry demands, the department offers software training courses that extend beyond the standard curriculum. These courses include AutoCAD, STAADPro, 3D-Max, REVIT, and MS-Project, taught by both in-house faculty and invited industry experts.
The department also regularly organizes seminars and workshops, bringing in professionals from the industry and academia to share insights into the latest developments and innovations in Civil Engineering.
Additionally, students participate in industrial visits to key organizations such as Dhamra Port, Rengali Dam, DWR (Odisha), CPWD (Govt. of India),PWD(R&B Division) Odisha and OMC LTD . These visits provide students with hands-on exposure to various industrial practices, reinforcing their theoretical knowledge with real-world experience.
