Engineering Thermodynamics Lab: In this lab, students explore concepts such as heat transfer, energy conversion, efficiency, and the behaviour of gases and fluids under various conditions.
Introduction to Physical Metallurgy & Engineering Materials Lab: The lab helps students understand the relationship between the structures, properties, and processing of materials, particularly metals and alloys, and how they are used in engineering applications.
Basic Manufacturing Processes Lab: This lab typically covers a range of basic operations such as machining, casting, forming, welding, and material removal, all of which are essential for producing parts and components in engineering applications.
Mechanisms and Machines Lab: The lab provides students with an opportunity to explore and analyze mechanical mechanisms, understand their motion, and learn about their applications in machines and devices.
Heat Transfer Lab: Heat transfer considered as an important aspect of Mechanical Engineering. The lab provides the facilities for imparting practical knowledge to the students on the related concepts of heat transfer in thermal power plants, gas turbines, steam turbines and Heat exchanger.
Design of Machine Elements Lab: In this lab, students learn how to design and test individual machine elements, such as shafts, bearings, gears, springs, and couplings, based on strength, durability, and functionality.
Machining Science and Technology Lab: In this lab, students learn about the principles of material removal, cutting tools, machine tools, and machining processes such as turning, milling, drilling, grinding, and advanced machining techniques.
CAD / CAM Lab: This lab integrates design and manufacturing processes by using specialized software tools for creating 2D/3D models, generating tool paths, and simulating machining operations.
Workshop Lab: This lab is fully equipped with various machines like; lathe, milling, turning, shaping and grinding etc. The facilities available in the lab are fully utilized by the students to undertake their project works.
Engineering Graphics and Design Lab: This lab is focused on developing the ability to communicate technical ideas and concepts visually through engineering drawings.
Basic Mechanical Engineering Lab: The lab covers a wide range of topics, from material properties and fluid mechanics to thermodynamics and basic mechanical systems.
Project Lab: This lab consists of various unique projects undertaken by the students and faculties of the department.
R & D Lab: The department also has specific labs beyond curriculum used exclusively for research and development purpose, such as:
R & D Lab on Nano Fluids
R & D Lab on Advanced Composites
R & D Lab on alternative fuel production
Mini Conference Hall
There is a well furnished Seminar hall equipped with latest LCD projectors in the main building which caters to the needs of the department such as presentation of Minor & Major project, Seminar, FDP, Expert Talk and similar special programs.
Departmental Library
A department library has been setup to cater to the needs of department students, faculties, and research scholars. It is the learning hub of the department that acts as center for the collection of text books of allied subjects, technical magazines, journals etc.
Industrial Lecture /Seminar
Listening to guest speakers and participating in ensuing discussions is an integral part of education. Guest lecturers open-up students’ eyes for better job prospects. Our department invites many renowned industrial people to deliver their lectures on different industrial topics and issues in order to bridge the gap between industry and academia.
Industrial Tours / Study Tours
Technical education without having a hands-on experience is never going to be fruitful. Every year we schedule a series of extraordinary pre-planned group tours for students. It provides opportunities to students to discover new things for themselves, through participation in hands-on activities. “Industrial visits are efforts to bridge the gap between theory and practical” and its benefits are as follows:
- It helps students gain first hand information regarding functioning of the industry.
- Provides opportunities to plan organize and engage in active learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
- It is mandatory in various Indian universities. Hence, it also fulfills certain curriculum requirements.
- Provides an insight into the real working environment of the industry.
- Helps them to see their future place in the working world.

Summer Internship
- Internship policy is an impactful strategy for creating a future talent pool for the industry.
- AICTE & BPUT has initiated various activities for promoting industrial internship at the graduate level in technical institutes.
- The main aim of these initiatives is to enhance the employability skills of the students graduating from technical institutions.
Benefits of Summer Internships
- An opportunity to get hired by the Industry/ organization.
- Practical experience in an organizational setting.
- Excellent opportunity to see how the theoretical aspects are learned in classes is integrated into the practical world. On-floor experience provides much more professional experience which is often worth more than classroom teaching.
- Helps them decide if the industry and the profession is the best career option to pursue.
- Opportunity to learn new skills and supplement knowledge.
- Opportunity to practice communication and teamwork skills.
- Opportunity to learn strategies like time management, multi-tasking etc. in an industrial setup.
- Makes a valuable addition to their resume.
- Enhances their candidacy for higher education.
- Creating network and social circle and developing relationships with industry people.
- Provides opportunity to evaluate the organization before committing to a full time position.
