While imparting professional education, we take utmost care that students and other stake holders feel the comfort in the campus. We at GIFT practice transparency, justice so that stake holders are not suffered. In fact campus is highly spiritual under the guidance of our honorable Chairman Dr. Satya Prakash Panda, Vice Chairman Er. Patitapaban Panda, and Principal Dr. S. Krishna Mohan Rao. Campus observes high moral and ethical practices. Our Grievances Redressal Mechanisms Committee efficiently addresses General grievances, Ragging issues, Women issues and SC/ST issues on the campus, as per guidelines of AICTE, BPUT, and Govt. of Odisha. Our Grievances Redressal Committee resolves issues regarding infrastructure, functioning or quarrels etc. Anti Ragging Committee, where students can lodge the complaint related to ragging and are handled as per Anti Ragging rules laid by government. Internal Complaints Committee for Women, where female can lodge the complaint and get their problem solved. It is set up as per the directives of the Supreme Court of India (Vishakha Guidelines), to uphold the dignity of women at work place. Committee for SC/ ST looks after complaints as per government act no.33 of 1989. Each committee is coordinated by staff member of institute.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL COMMITTEE OF GIFT

As per public notice No. PG/08 (04)/ 2016 of AICTE, New-Delhi ( Published in all local News papers) and as per AICTE regulations notification No. 37-3/Legal/2012 dated 25.5.2012; the office of the Principal of Gandhi Institute For Technology, Bhubaneswar have established the Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) for redressal of grievances of students, parents and others .

Accordingly, all aggrieved students, their parents and others can submit their grievances to the GRC of GIFT in writing . The grievances of all aggrieved students, parents and others relates to the following complaints only ( as per AICTE rules & regulations ) shall be considered. i.e-

  • (i)making admission contrary to merit determined in accordance with the declared admission policy of the institute;
  • (ii) irregularity in the admission process adopted by the institute;
  • (iii) refusing admission in accordance with the declared admission policy of the institute;
  • (iv) withhold or refuse to return any document in the form of certificates of degree, diploma or any other award or other document deposited with it by a person for the purpose of seeking admission in such institution, with a view to induce or compel such person to pay any fee or fees in respect of any course or programme of study which such person does not intend to pursue;
  • (v) demand of money in excess of that specified in the declared admission policy or approved by the competent authority to be charged by such institution;
  • (vi) breach of the policy for reservation in admission as may be applicable; (vii) complaints of alleged discrimination by students from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, OBC, women, minority or disabled categories;
  • (vii)non payment or delay in payment of scholarships to any students that such institution is committed, under the conditions imposed by AICTE, or by any other authority;
  • (viii)delay in conduct of examinations or declaration of results beyond that specified in the academic calendar;
  • (ix)on provision of student amenities as may have been promised or required to be provided by the institution;
  • (x) denial of quality education as promised at the time of admission or required to be provided;
  • (xi) non transparent or unfair evaluation practices;
  • (xii) harassment and victimization of students including sexual harassment; and
  • (xiii) refund of fees on withdrawal of admissions as per AICTE instructions from time to time..
  • For speedy redress of all grievances , the Grievance Redressal Committee of GIFT shalltake a decission within 15 days of receipt of grievance and the decission shall be informed to the concerned complaint.
  • In case any appealed complaint not satisfied with the decission of the Grievance Redressal Committee of GIFT, may send their appeal to OMBUDSMAN of affiliating university i.e BPUT directly to get justice.

Facility :The person concerned can personally approach to any member of the Cell. Person can give written complaint. Students and staffs can submit their grievances through institute’s MIS. Alternatively you can send mail on info@gift.edu.in Suggestion cum complaint boxes have also been installed at different places in the college campus, in which the students, staff can put in writing their grievances and their suggestions for improving the academics and administration in the college. Written complaints are encouraged; however one may choose to remain anonymous. AICTE FAQS (Everyone should Know)

FAQ 1: What is the procedure to deal with grievances of students including Refund of fee/ return of original certificate etc.

In this regard, AICTE has framed the AICTE (Establishment of Mechanism for Grievance Redressal) Regulation, 2012 which was notified vide notification F.No. 37-3/Legal/2012 dated 25.05.2012. These Regulations provide for (1) Establishment of a Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) in each technical institution approved by the AICTE; and (2) Appointment of OMBUDSMAN by the affiliating universities for the purpose of redressal of grievances of the students, parents and others. All the AICTE approved Institution/Affiliating Universities shall comply with the above Regulations. They shall publish detailed information, including name, addresses etc. regarding constitution of the Grievance Redressal Committee, the OMBUDSMAN and its registry etc. in their website (public domain), prospectus and Notice Board for wide publicity. Each technical institution shall establish a registry, headed by an employee of the concerned institution to receive those grievances, where an aggrieved student or person shall send their representation for redressal of their grievances. Accordingly, all aggrieved students, their parents & others may henceforth approach the Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) in the first instance; and if they are not satisfied with the decision of the committee, they may send their appeals to the “OMBUDSMAN “directly. The “OMBUDSMAN” shall exercise its powers to hear those grievances and ensure its speedy redressal within one month of the receipt of the appeal. On conclusion of the proceedings, the OMBUDSMAN shall pass appropriate orders in the matter.

FAQ 2: Where to send the complaint regarding violation of AICTE norms and standards by the AICTE approved institutions.

In this regard, if any person has any specific complaint against AICTE approved Institution regarding violation of norms and standards as prescribed in AICTE Approval Process Handbook. The complainant may send duly signed hard copy of the same along with supporting documents/evidence, if any, with complete postal address directly to Dy.
