Patents
A patent is an exclusive right granted by a country to an inventor, allowing the inventor to exclude others from making, using or selling his or her invention in that country during the life of the patent – Joseph G. Hadzima, MIT, Sloan School of Management. There are several reasons for Patenting one’s inventions – Exclusive Rights, Strong Market Position, Higher returns of Investments etc. There is a strong perception that “patent portfolios” is a demonstration of higher level of expertise, specialization and technological capacity within an organization.
